Disco

Problem: Just-in-time knowledge

A large African bank was in the process of adding several branch locations and expanding their agent network. Like most financial service organizations they have thousands of products and services with slight variations by region due to legal differences.

The sales operations leader asked us:

“How can we quickly and simply distribute all of our products to regional sales executives in a simpler way than producing endless numbers of documents and trainings. Those don’t seem to work, and we end up with our teams knowing less about what we can offer than we would like.”

Solution: Chat bot for workforce policies

Shortly after LLMs launched Brave Labs built what has become standard practice now: we stood up a knowledge base of sales and policy documents that could be easily interacted with through a chat bot interface. Disco (short for discovery) can respond to any question about any product or need for a product with a simple natural language query.

Stoneridge

Problem: Identify high ROI for AI use cases

As a Microsoft partner, the Stoneridge team prides itself on always staying on the cutting edge of software and technology adoption. They, “eat their own dogfood” as Microsoft is known for saying. As an early adopter of Co-Pilot the HR team saw an opportunity to optimize, reinvent, or potentially add entirely new workflows. The question is which HR activities and outcomes are most critical to the business strategy, and how can AI best enable those?

Solution: AI action plan workshop

To rapidly get up to speed on Co-Pilot capability and link those to business value for Stoneridge and its talent, Brave Labs prepared a deep dive workshop to build an AI Action Plan. Through a combination of stakeholder Interviews, benchmark research, and live strategy sessions the team identified their biggest challenges, roadmapped where to start, and generated creative applications of AI for their goals.

Educate

Problem: Differentiating students

Today’s classrooms are expanding in both numbers of students and in the diversity of student needs. To respond, educators are gathering more data then ever, but understanding and using that data to support student differences is also harder than ever.

Stacy Schultze, Educate’s president framed the problem like this:

“We coach teachers on future education technology and practices. How can we give schools the tools they need to empower educators to better understand each student, even as class sizes grow.”

Solution: AI for individual education planning

In partnership with Educate, Brave Labs built UnlockAI. As a highly adaptive teaching partner, UnlockAI can answer questions and provide specific recommendations related to instructional and behavioural challenges. It taps into school, student, and best teaching practice knowledge to guide instructors towards actionable methods and resources for their specific student situations. This allows teachers to leverage each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and personalized learning pathways to uncover unique learning perspectives, personalize instructions, and customize teaching content. In addition to leveraging live student data UnlockAI is implemented in partnership with coaching experts who support teachers in going beyond identifying solutions to delivering them at a high level of performance.

Datopian

Problem: Discovering skills and potential contribution

We have a robust pipeline of diverse projects coming in each month and, fortunately for us that pipeline is growing with a wider variety of new projects. Our dilemma is, do we have the right mix of skills and capacity to meet demand?

As the CEO, Ruffus Polock asked:

"Can you help us identify who we already have with the skills to serve future clients or who could learn the skills needed quickly. Also, when we don’t have people, what gaps do we need to fill with formal training or hiring?”

Solution: Skills forecasting

Brave Labs used data from the existing team’s past work, their ATS, and their sales pipeline to build a comprehensive skills forecasting tool. The tool can seamlessly source relevant team members for future work, predict capacity gaps, recommend learning/training opportunities, and identify shortlists of talent to backfill where internal development is not fast enough.

FIS

Problem: Optimize succession models to reduce risk

FIS has hundreds of critical roles. Unexpected departures and vacancies could put projects and performance at significant risk. To address this, they use succession planning. Yes, not all critical roles, high potential talent, and succession shortlists are included. Building each was a significant, manual exercise. How can this be more comprehensive, efficient, and future focused?

Solution: Workforce planning simulation

Brave Labs partnered with FIS to simulate future demand for talent and potential contribution of talent. This simulation tool gets company data, evaluates all possible succession strategies for a set of roles, compares their outcomes, and recommends the least risky scenario for each position. We built it to help a 60,0000-people strong financial company find optimal succession plans for its top 5% senior executives.
